All Blacks win!

On Sunday morning I think some New Zealanders got up very early. Why you ask? Well, on Sunday morning at 5:00 am it was the 2015 Rugby World Cup Final! The game was played at Twickenham. I didn't get up at that time but I heard that New Zealand won. The score was 34-17. (In case you were wondering, we faced Australia!) Which means that we have won 2 Rugby World Cups back to back and that we have won 3 Rugby World Cups. That's awesome! Congratulations All Blacks

Baking with Auntie Paula

MRQO0774 from Myles Webb on Vimeo.'

"Flour, check. Eggs, check" said Aunty Paula as she grabbed those items. "This will taste so good!" I screamed as Aunty Paula put the ingredients in the bowl.

We begin to mix the ingredients together. "Ew! What is that?" I yelled. "It's just the cookie before it takes its shape." Aunty Paula said as she started shaping them into small balls. Soon she will finish, and that means they can go into the oven.

Aunty Paula closed the oven then said "you can either stare at that oven for 10 minutes or you could help me make the next batch of these cookies. "I'd much rather stare at this" I joked as I started helping.

After what seemed like YEARS, they finally were ready. I glared at them. "What's wrong?' Aunty Paula asked. "Well, they look... Different!" I replied. "That's because they have made their shape" she replied. Well then, I can't wait to eat them!

After about 2 cookies, I began to think. "There is probably only 1 word that can describe this...YUM"

They were probably in Waitara (that's where I played my tournament) because the next day, they were facing the NZ All Whites in New Plymouth. Above the door the thin screen said “will commence at 9:10,Inside out.” We walked in to our surprise we saw Mr Tai! We said hi and set off on our journey… To find the perfect seat!

It was almost time for the movie. But wait! We can spy; jason Holmes, Emily, Uncle Jared and Auntie Paula. Also we saw Mrs Bunker and her son Jack! Who else were we going to see?

Finally, the movie started. The screen blinked while the sound system spoke. You better get comfortable, I bet this movie's going to be great!

Minecraft persuasive writing, answers

Hi guys, I have just posted my 'why Minecraft should be in schools' persuasive peice of writing. I have also just had 10 different comments on that! Thank you to all those people who commented. Now, a lot of the people had questions, so I am going to answer them. Also, I will add and answer knew questions!!

1:  What has been your favourite project?
Well, I am currently working on a big town with my sister.  (We are not sure of the name!)

2:  Do you think creative mode or survival mode are better suited to school and why?
I think Creative mode is better so you don't need to spend loads of time getting the materials. In creative everything is there and you never run out of it!

3:  Would you be able to support this argument with some images of the most creative things that you and your friends have created?
We are working on the Hawera Water tower, with some of my friends, but I can not included photos because it is for a competion.

4:  Can you think of why some teachers do not want minecraft in schools? What is a possible reason why a teacher would not want minecraft in school, and how would you answer that reason?
Probably because they think kids may muck around, or break the other kids creations

5:   Is there a way to create a Minecraft town/village/castle/house/whatever with materials in a classroom???
It really depends on what you have in the class room, but if you have multi link cubes or Lego to make a house or village!

6: Do you think your classmates would use the class time to create within Minecraft or to consume time?
If the students were givin the opportunity, they would arise to it and be responsible.

7: What subject does Minecraft most closely align with?
Geometry, The shapes of different building
Maths, Shapes
Writing, People could build a house and write a procedural piece of writing
History, They could build a peice of important landmark or thing that has happened.
And I am sure there are many more!

8: How do you see Minecraft getting implemented in school?
It shows that kids can build really cool things, along with  a lot of imagination

9:: Would it be used to enhance a lesson, or just for play during recess and lunch?
Yes it would help with a lesson because they can join worlds and share ideas.

10: How do you believe it would positively effect the students' learning?
Kids will be motivated because it is a fun app, and there is so much learning involved, the will actual want to learn with the app Minecraft!

11: What creative things do you build in Minecraft?
I'm working on a fire castle, called house of fire. I will post some pictures on it when it's fininshed, and the process.

12:  Do you usually build things on the spot or try to replicate things you know?
Well I haven't built anything that actually real, but I am thinking of doing something like that. I don't normally build things on the spot. I think about them first.

13: Do you currently use it in school, if so, when?
Well my class are working on hints like that for a competition, that is combined with 3 other schools. But we normally do it as the last thing in the day.

As I said, thanks for all the questions, if you have more comment in the writing or this answer post.

Persuasive writing

Title: Why Minecraft should be in school

Do you want an app that shows creativity? Or do you want to be able to do anything? Well, Minecraft is that app. Here's some reasons why.

Firstly, Minecraft shows creativity, what you can build is limitless, you can get as creative as you can want. Whatever you think you can build, you can!

Secondly, this app gives a few tips on survival. (But of course you wouldn't go punching a tree for wood!) but it does show how to defend yourself in the worst situation. Also what to do when you're stranded, and what not.

Thirdly, this app shows the process of building, along with the process of farming. So it shows the life cycle.

Next, Minecraft shows people anything is possible in this game. Everyone can do anything in this great app.

Finally, Minecraft should be in schools because it can be used on several different consoles! iPad only school? Not a problem! Just get the mobile version! Computer only? Doesn't matter! Get the PC/Mac version!

That's why Minecraft should be in schools, because it shows the value of creativity and the importance of surviving.

Explanation Writing, Why is a striker important

This week for writing we had to write a peice of explanation writing. So I did it on a striker for soccer. So here it is

Why is a striker important

WALT: Write an original piece of explanation writing

The striker for a soccer team is an important player.

It's their job to score the goals for their team, but they can also set goals up too. The striker needs to be fit, and also really fast so they can chase after the ball.

The striker tries to score as many goals as possible to make their team win. They mostly stay around halfway, to get the ball from their team-mate. Sometimes if the other team is about to have a corner, the striker comes down to help prevent them from scoring.

The strikers job is very important, because he gets the goals for their team. (But remember, not just the striker can score!)

Science at home: Making crystals

On Wednesday night, me and Mum tried a experiment, with the left over things that Mum used to do it with Room 8.  We put it in and left it for 2 nights. We also added yellow food colouring to make it yellow. Here are the steps to make this experiment. (If you do the experiment, leave a comment on how it went!!)

You will need:
Epsom salt
Food colouring (optional)

1.Put 1 cup of Epsom salt in your bowl
2.Heat 1 cup of water in the microwave for 45 seconds
3.Mix it together! For 2 minutes (Add food colouring if you want!)
4.Put it in the freezer for 10 minutes
5.After, put it into the fridge overnight!
6.When you get it out carefully get rid of the excess water
It works better the longer you leave it in the fridge!!!!!

Recount. FIFA U-20 World Cup

We got so far

WALT: Write a recount

"Oh no!" I yelled as the Portugal team rob the ball from from New Zealand! I stared and gasped, as New Zealand were chasing for their treasure.

"What kind of tournament is it when the host country is out?!" I thought when New Zealand were still chasing like a pack of wolves hunting deer.

He shoots... SCORES! Portugal just scored! Oh no, no no no, we can't have let them win that goal. New Zealand tried their best in stopping the ball, but sadly it was no use.

Portugal's fans were so elevated, this could be the goal that makes Portugal win the match. But don't be scared New Zealand fans... We will fight back!

FIFA U-20 World Cup New Zealand vs Portugal

Myles Webb's Slidely by Slidely Slideshow

On Thursday the 11th I went to the New Zealand vs Portugal game in Hamilton. It was at Wakatio stadium. Me, Dad and Bryleigh went. I got a New Zealand shirt and and New Zealand silver fern poster thing and a flag that says GOAL!! We watched the game for the fist half and that was when Portugal got a goal. Then when it was the second half we left because it is a long drive but only minutes later New Zealand got a goal. Then on our way home Portugal got a goal at almost full time. New Zealand played really well to just lose by 1 point.

To present this great game I used a brand new slideshow maker.

Narrative writing

Burnt without a trace

"Dr. Mackenna! Get me the serum so I can make the medicine to get people to remember things! People always forget things these days!” Yelled Dr. Jordan. “Y-y-e-e-s-s, sir.” Replied Dr. Mackenna as she dug through the cupboard to find the medicine.

After they were ready. “Here we go!” said Dr. Jordan excitedly. They poured it in and then mixed it, then the bottle started flickering like a lantern.

“Sir…” said Dr. Mackenna. The bottle was shaking, then there was a spark of fire. “What’s happening?” Yelled Dr. Jordan. “I don’t know!” Replied Dr. Mackenna. Suddenly it detonated!

The next morning the police had discovered what had happened. Witnesses were  called in to tell their side of the story. They mainly got “ I didn’t see anything” but then they called in a boy. “ What did you see?” Asked the police. “ Well, I didn’t see much but…”

Hours later the police told the boy to hurry up and cut to the chase. “ Well, I saw something I wish I hadn’t seen…”

Experiment gone wrong narrative writing

     Experiment gone wrong

WALT: I am writing a piece of narrative writing

“Dr N.School will you pass me the serum HX60 please.” Said Dr R.Can “ sure sir, but don’t you mean  HX50?” Replied Dr N.School as he raced to the cabniet to obey his masters order. “No no no” replied Dr R.Can. They were trying to find a cure for a very deadly disease. About 1 hour later after the experiment Dr N.School was cleaning up when he saw a green oze trail, so he followwed it.

Later the trail lead to Dr R.School’s house. Knock knock, ”come in” replied Dr R.Can. Dr N.School followed the trail all around the house and ended up in the bathroom! (Weird isn’t? I mean, it could be anywhere in the house like: Lounge, kitchen or bedroom!)

He peeked around the door and saw a green gross ozy monster on the toilet eating a bar of soap in his mouth. The monster glared at him, and the soap left his mouth then the monster chased him all around the bathroom like a pinball in a pinball machine. Then they both heard a voice “what is going on in here?” They paused. It was Dr R.Can, he walked in and stared. His mouth dropped down like the clown game at the fair, he walked in right as his best friend was getting eaten! But there was no time to sob because before he knew it, he was next...

ANZAC Day slideshow

Over the past few days I have been making a slideshow on ANZAC Day. I have been working on it and it looks great. I'd also like to know, if you are from Australia how do you celebrate ANZAC Day?

Climbing, climbing

"Wow" I thought as I gazed at the giant thing. I've always wanted to go up there, and today's the day.

"Here we go" I thought as we entered the Hawera Water Tower. As I stopped to look at the signs to learn everyone was going up so I followed.

Climbing, climbing I thought as we hiked up the stairs. "Does this end?" I said "because it doesn't feel like it will"

As we go up closer to the destination I peeked through the window, I realised I could see pretty much the whole of Hawera! Everything looked like a little speck.

"We're here!" Harry said, "finally" I replied. My legs were aching. I looked around and I was stunned... It was worth that 215 stair climb! I looked at the ground "we were once there."

I found the picture online

Anzac Day is on 25 April. It reminds people about all New Zealanders killed in war and also honours returned servicemen and women. As of the 25th of April the the ANZACs landed in Gallipoli. Trying to attack Turkey and the Ottoman Empire. Failing so in December the 18th they left to go back to New Zealand.

Her name is Maggie and she is a Sydney Silky and we got her in March 2012, At the end she looks different because she just got groomed! She is so soft and nice and my brother Madden really likes playing with her!

I also have some questions to ask, just leave the answer in the comments.

1: Do you have any pets?
2: Do you have any uncommon pets?
3: What breed is your dog?

Run hard to win

Going around the corner, probably another 100 meters to go. I was going fast. We were fighting for a shield, that Mr Chittenden had become best friends with.

Everyone was trying their best and other schools want the gold, we have held it for a long time, and then today isn't the day we are going to lose it. Running hard was our goal.

We were brisk. Gleaming at the finish line. Everything had been turning out perfectly and I was going great until she came.

Jorja. She was coming up my tail. Hunting me down, she wanted to come first and so did I. Two people wanting the same thing doesn't work out.

We were getting closer and closer to the end but she was ahead. I looked across and a kaponga girl was close to me, but I inched forward.

Crossing the finish line was great. I turned around to watch the B runners. Later I went to Mum, she said Good Job! I just nodded.

So Hard

WALT: Write a recount about a school event

3... Adrenaline was pumping through me. 2... I'm so nervous. 1... GO! Mr Tai yells. Girls were running through like a stampede of elephants. I was running as fast as my legs would take me. This was hard, maybe impossible, but sadly, I signed up for it.

"Running was pain" is all I was thinking, trying to pass all these girls kept passing me. I was in the middle of the field and I still had a while to go. This was so harsh.

"I've got to stop" I think but I've still got another lap to go. I'm worn out and just to make it worse, my legs hurt!! I was puffing hard out.

My sweat was dripping like rain. This was very mighty. But I still have a bit to go. I could see a glimpse of my destination, that glory, gold and treasure. Almost there... Done!

I was still kind of annoyed that I needs to do the bike but after I could go for the swim! Yes! I'm really excited now, I'm really going fast!
